    Milliande's Vision

~ For me what is sometimes missing in my life is a place to share with women, just women.

~ There is a primal inborn need in a lot of women, to connect, to nurture each other and to feel like you are able to come, sit by the fire , make art and talk about the beingness of your day.

~ If I call for that need to be met with my inner voice of longing only another feminine voice seems to be able to answer that call

~ Here I would like to provide a space for women to be women, in each others company with nothing to prove and nothing to hide .. just being made welcome to explore their individuality to creative art expressions

~ Lets sit around the fire and make art and nurture our aching souls

~~ Feel free to explore all the little Sub-Groups offered here
to find one that suits your own style of artistic expression

♥ A willingness to explore the creative arts viewed throught the eye of your soul ♥ Deep respect for the beauty and individuality of each woman who chooses to share of herself and her artwork in our Community ♥ A love of life itself ♥ An openess to reclaim your connection with the sacred feminine ♥ A knowing that to create is your first and foremost birthright and that by trusting your intuition you will know instinctively what to create and when you do it will be the perfect time, always ... " Once there was a Woman... who had a dream ... a dream to sit around a fire with creative kin ... and so she found a few twigs of wood, a little log or two , some burning cinder ... and gathered in a little sheltered spot ... to begin ...

.... soon the smoke of the fire was seen some distance away ... and curious women came to peek ... so the Woman put a few more logs on the fire ...asked them to sit and warm themselves a little ..as they checked out her fire ... the women felt comfortable here and opened themselves to receive ... and as the fire needed tending to keep it alight .. the " Woman" quietly went away to gather a few more pieces of wood ...

... as the story goes ..the fire grew and grew ...as more and more women felt themselves strangely warmed by it ... felt a kind of soft feeling deep inside them that held promise of things to come .. that felt akin to a deep knowing ... that simply let them be ...

.... so they invited their women friends to join too ..to warm themselves, to feel that kinship shared .. and they arrived at the " Woman's fire " ..ready to experience all that was being offered ... some women came alone, some brought friends , some brought a piece of wood or two to share to keep the fire going ... some brought a twig as a way of appreciation for the invitation .. some took a log away to light a fire elsewhere ..

...all the while , the Woman's day was filled with gathering many many twigs, making the fire bigger and bigger, making a clearing to create a larger safe place for all the women on the path of arriving at her fire to be met with the same warm glow ..to be welcomed at this little sanctuary

.. and so they came .. and she was glad ..

... the days were filled with joyful laughter..with friendships kindled .. with women sharing ...with creative juices flowing, uncorked, released, shared, enjoyed , women bringing much of themselves to the communal fire ..a fire that in turn deeply nurtured them ...
... wood is precious and the Woman was grateful for every piece that arrived at her sanctuary , yet many twigs are needed to keep a fire burning ... it takes a little fallen oak branch to keep it alight for many an hour .. a few gathered twigs of birch will burn swiftly and make way for the next log to arrive that will sustain this creative fire as long as it is needed ...

...and so today .. 4 years later... this fire holds itself brightly ..the WOMAN can no longer even see the brightest spark reaching the horizon .. yet she can feel it deeply in her heart

... as gathering twigs all by herself was no longer sufficient to keep this large fire burning ...she noticed that many women had settled around her fire

...Deep within the Woman lies a knowing ,that to preserve this fire in the way it was meant to BE... for it to remain a sanctuary, to evolve naturally, organically, without the need to judge, rule, organise, chase, plan, no hierarchy, no leaders, no followers ... just women being women ... bare, honest, alive..
to preserve THIS..to grow THIS... she looks out at the horizon with a widen open heart ... asking for twigs and logs and branches and tree loads to be supplied by the universe ...
..and she knew that wood would come .. "

    Artclub Today

Still Playing with Drawing Practice at Artclub today - Tilting around an Axis

The idea being to take an object, in my case a teapot ... tilt it..discover the tilt axis ...then draw in elliptical shapes the main form of the pot ...taking care to maintain the axis point ...

Removing the need to go for the outline first but investigating the visual shape of the body form first .. letting the tilted axis be the anchor that holds the composition in place...
    an interesting exercise in..

.. another exercise of playing with negative shape ... arranging an impromptu still-life made up out of items from my drawing bag...onto a rectangular surface...then observing the created negative shapes only ..
I find it incredibly difficult to hold focus on the negative shapes...my mind does all kinds of erratic dances wishing to jump back to the familiar outline of the object rather than its negative neighbour... managed to hold on some ... but love to play with these ideas of "pure" negative shape a bit more ..
    |

resting slowly on the negative shapes...trying to avoid guesswork but really staying witth the shape
thats present rather than what is thought to be there by the mind...
and interesting afternoon of observational drawing

Pigment Crushers - Art by the Beach

Pigment Crushers - Art by the Beach

Having spotted some blue sky peeking out from behind the clouds .. we grabbed the chance for another walk on the beach ... Maya decided to have an experiment to see whether she could crush some coloured stones to make pigments... wondering whether that is how they made paint in the ancient days ..  so off she went to look ...

Having found some promising specimens we build a little protective stone circle around the stone to be crushed to avoid loosing the pieces that kept jumping into all directions ... ( mind your eyes too)
After several sessions she got a fine enough powder of pigment ..

we found 3 suitable stones ...one even coloured turquoise-ish .. and filled empty limpet shells with the pigment ...

...then added a little water, gave it a little stir ..then let the Art begin :-)

the terracotta red colour worked particularly well and we had great fun doodling on the stones ..

..adding a little turquoise pigment on my stone face :-)

..after a little scratching with a hard stone to add some white lines my Beach Art Painting was complete ..
    what fun ..

... about to tuck into some well-earned chocolate ladybird to refuel ;-)

...have I told you that I love Wales yet ? ... grin

    Reliefprinting Studio Day

    Reliefprinting Studio Day

It has been unusually warm hot even in the UK so the weather has tempted me to snatch
the potting bench from the greenhouse and turn it into an outdoor printmaking station
... ohh and it works a treat

the little upper staging shelf is just perfect for holding in progress
inked up brayers and rollers out of the way from the actual printing area

a first batch of printed papers waiting to be kissed by a little sunshine to dry

another batch jostling for sundays ...I think I need to investigate some
staged shelving for drying papers .. one printmaking session ..especially
using mono print or relief printing can filed quite a few sheets in succession as I like
to work in layers rather than creating a finished design on the printing plate itself

first few layers on this sheet...waiting to dry before applying the next

playing with some paint resist ideas ...

ahh end of session ... all tools ready to drip off and dry

this spot in front of my studio catches the last bit of sun before it disappears
for the evening ..I like sitting here and so does Ronnie ... he is desperately
curious what is going on on my sketch paper and claiming this front row seat for himself ;-)

Sometimes .. the story overwhelms the senses

    #selfportrait

    Sometimes ..

sometimes the story overwhelms the senses

sometimes the pressure flooding through my veins is contagious

sometimes the body is not owned by the persisting mind

sometimes life is the story of a pressured body ...
