What I noticed:

Windows are peculiar things, holes really, sometimes small, sometimes large , always offering a framed view of sorts
if I make a portable window , I can choose my view ...
I can choose to focus on who wanders into my view
my portable view helps me to shut out distractions and relish the minute

with macrophotography the lens becomes my window
and I can choose what I peek at
closely
again

I like windows, I like macro, I like to choose

Pin Weaving - UnRuly Cloth & Canvas

Pin Weaving - UnRuly Cloth & Canvas

Weaving has always had the notion of being too structured, to pristine, to predictable for me until I came across some wild weavings of other artists that changed my notion and opened up my muses will to explore and make it my own .... I like tiny, I adore minature and I actively seek macro ... so where will that lead me under the context of WEAVING

Pin weaving maybe

Hello Members of Milliandes!

I love it here at Milliande's very much. It seems such a big site, and I get lost and really not sure how to make more friends and have more interactions...What does one base a request upon? I am from NY, so I started looking for friends there...The membership list is quite abundant with friendly and talented women. However, they all seem to know each other for awhile...It would be such a pleasure to receive more feedback and to give it...are there any…

KK Paul - Photographer and Mixed Media Artist- Milliande Artist Spotlight

Kim aka KK DEPAUL Artist Statement I am a storyteller. My themes are memory and secrets. I have always been fascinated by multiple interpretations... double exposures...and ambiguity. My process begins with a collection of elements. As I begin to move the elements around, cut them apart and reassemble, a visual narrative begins to take shape... I see the layering of paper and photographic imagery as being similar to the way our mind organizes memory... at different depths... one over another...constantly shifting.

ZHOU FAN - Milliande Artist Spotlight

ZHOU FAN Artist Statement
A series of my paintings is based on dreams that I had as a child of many many
jellyfish floating in the sky, some of which fell to the ground on parachutes
and became mushrooms. These dreams had a strong impact on me, and
I remember them vividly. Somehow I feel that it is easier to focus on dreams
than reality. In one particular painting, there is a boy crying because
he keeps things within him, is easily sad, and he refuses to face reality.

Zhou Fan was born in 1983 in Shanxi Province in northern China.
In 2006, Zhou Fan graduated from the art department of Shanxi University.
He participated in a solo exhibition and several group exhibition in his home province that year.

Milliande's Vision

~ For me what is sometimes missing in my life is a place to share with women, just women.

~ There is a primal inborn need in a lot of women, to connect, to nurture each other and to feel like you are able to come, sit by the fire , make art and talk about the beingness of your day.

~ If I call for that need to be met with my inner voice of longing only another feminine voice seems to be able to answer that call

~ Here I would like to provide a space for women to be women, in each others company with nothing to prove and nothing to hide .. just being made welcome to explore their individuality to creative art expressions

~ Lets sit around the fire and make art and nurture our aching souls

~~ Feel free to explore all the little Sub-Groups offered here
to find one that suits your own style of artistic expression

♥ A willingness to explore the creative arts viewed throught the eye of your soul ♥ Deep respect for the beauty and individuality of each woman who chooses to share of herself and her artwork in our Community ♥ A love of life itself ♥ An openess to reclaim your connection with the sacred feminine ♥ A knowing that to create is your first and foremost birthright and that by trusting your intuition you will know instinctively what to create and when you do it will be the perfect time, always ... Milliande Womens Circle , Art Community for Women

" Once there was a Woman... who had a dream ... a dream to sit around a fire with creative kin ... and so she found a few twigs of wood, a little log or two , some burning cinder ... and gathered in a little sheltered spot ... to begin ...

.... soon the smoke of the fire was seen some distance away ... and curious women came to peek ... so the Woman put a few more logs on the fire ...asked them to sit and warm themselves a little ..as they checked out her fire ... the women felt comfortable here and opened themselves to receive ... and as the fire needed tending to keep it alight .. the " Woman" quietly went away to gather a few more pieces of wood ...

... as the story goes ..the fire grew and grew ...as more and more women felt themselves strangely warmed by it ... felt a kind of soft feeling deep inside them that held promise of things to come .. that felt akin to a deep knowing ... that simply let them be ...

.... so they invited their women friends to join too ..to warm themselves, to feel that kinship shared .. and they arrived at the " Woman's fire " ..ready to experience all that was being offered ... some women came alone, some brought friends , some brought a piece of wood or two to share to keep the fire going ... some brought a twig as a way of appreciation for the invitation .. some took a log away to light a fire elsewhere ..

...all the while , the Woman's day was filled with gathering many many twigs, making the fire bigger and bigger, making a clearing to create a larger safe place for all the women on the path of arriving at her fire to be met with the same warm glow ..to be welcomed at this little sanctuary

.. and so they came .. and she was glad ..

... the days were filled with joyful laughter..with friendships kindled .. with women sharing ...with creative juices flowing, uncorked, released, shared, enjoyed , women bringing much of themselves to the communal fire ..a fire that in turn deeply nurtured them ...
... wood is precious and the Woman was grateful for every piece that arrived at her sanctuary , yet many twigs are needed to keep a fire burning ... it takes a little fallen oak branch to keep it alight for many an hour .. a few gathered twigs of birch will burn swiftly and make way for the next log to arrive that will sustain this creative fire as long as it is needed ...

...and so today .. 4 years later... this fire holds itself brightly ..the WOMAN can no longer even see the brightest spark reaching the horizon .. yet she can feel it deeply in her heart

... as gathering twigs all by herself was no longer sufficient to keep this large fire burning ...she noticed that many women had settled around her fire

...Deep within the Woman lies a knowing ,that to preserve this fire in the way it was meant to BE... for it to remain a sanctuary, to evolve naturally, organically, without the need to judge, rule, organise, chase, plan, no hierarchy, no leaders, no followers ... just women being women ... bare, honest, alive..
to preserve THIS..to grow THIS... she looks out at the horizon with a widen open heart ... asking for twigs and logs and branches and tree loads to be supplied by the universe ...
..and she knew that wood would come .. "
